"Gene Simmons" Character Model "Ace Frehley" Character Model "Peter Criss" Character Model "Paul Stanley" Character Model "Gene Simmons" Promo image An "up-close" rendering of Gene's face "Love Gun Stage" Close-up Rendering
I created this stage scene back in 2000 for a trivia-based PC game developed by Wayforward Technologies. I used a giant KISS book containing a variety of stage themes the band had used over the years of touring around the world as reference to create this environment. Modeled in Softimage and textured using Photoshop. Completion time for art and animation was approximately 90 hours. It's not often that I'm asked to create cg characters so this was an enjoyable opportunity for me to explore unkown territory. I used Softimage to model this one and Photoshop to create the texture maps. Total completion time for this character was approximately 50-60 hours. This was another fun one to work on because of his superhero type features. This one didn't require as much time to model as the Gene Simmons character because let's face it - Gene's suit is just out of control. Total completion time was approximately 40-50 hours. During the time that I worked on this project I was also working with John Moore (one of my closest friends of many years) on an unrelated personal project and he ended up lending me a hand on this character. Needless to say, he swiftly picked up the 3D skills that were required to make a considerable contribution to this model. Hey, what are good friends for right? This was another character that my friend John Moore contributed to and did a fine job in doing so. Total completion time for this character was just under 40 hours. This image was created to serve as a promotional image of sorts by the request of the developer. I created the flaming background in Photoshop and then composited the 3D character model also within Photoshop. A close-up rendering of Gene's face... I wanted to include a close-up rendering of the stage to give a better idea of the level of detail that went into the actual construction of it. All too often the finer details of an object or scene tend to get overlooked by the time the artwork reaches the final production output.
